CONDUCTOR

CONDUCTING STUDIES

Tracy’s conducting experience embraces wind band, orchestral and vocal music across schools and the wider community. Ensembles she has directed range from beginner through to highly accomplished levels and has covered a wide range of genres. Throughout her career she has championed Australian music, and aims to include a more diverse range of composers in her programs.

Tracy completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2021, studying both wind band and orchestral conducting, and was the fortunate recipient of the 2022 State Music Camp Award for excellence in Orchestral Conducting. She also completed projects on repertoire preparation and non-verbal communication.

She is now pursuing a PhD in Music Performance (Conducting), supervised by Dr. Nicholas Enrico Williams. She has guest conducted the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Wind Symphony in concerts and recording sessions since 2021. Tracy also guest conducted the MCM Concert Band in 2022, throughout 2023, and again in 2025. In 2024 she directed the ensemble for their second concert of the year, on the theme “Ways and Means.” Since September 2025, Tracy has continued her studies at the University of Georgia as a Visiting Researcher Scholar. During her stay she has guest conducted the UGA Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band in rehearsals and concerts. She will return to Melbourne in 2026.

She conducted during ABODA workshops and masterclasses with Peter Bandy (string conducting); Benjamin Northey (string conducting and orchestral conducting); Dr. Paula Crider, Dr. Travis Cross, and the Royal Australian Air Force Band (advanced wind band conducting).
