ABOUT TRACY
TRACY VIDEON
Tracy is based in Melbourne, Australia, where she began here musical journey singing in choirs. In high school she started learning the euphonium and tuba and playing in school and community bands, completing her Diploma of Associateship in Music on euphonium (A. Mus.A.) before finishing high school. An enthusiastic attendee of music camps, she was privileged to play under the baton of composers Claude T. Smith, Alfred Reed and Vaclav Nelhybel.
Tracy has enjoyed a varied performance career both as a euphonium/tuba player and as a chorister. As a part-time musician in the Australian Army, she played in featured ensembles at local and international events. She also played in high-level community ensembles such as the Grainger Wind Symphony and the Melbourne Wind Ensemble.
As a member of the Hawthorn City Band, she competed successfully in state and national brass band championships, touring the USA with the band when they won the Championship grade in the North American Brass Band Association championships in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Having studied classical singing, Tracy became a member of Heidelberg Choral Society, where she performed repertoire by Handel, Bach, Hadyn, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Rossini, Orf, Rutter, Jenkins and others. Highlights included a concert tour of China, and performing with an international massed choir in Carnegie Hall. Since joining the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Tracy has enjoyed performing under the baton of Jaime Martin (Mahler, Ravel), Jessica Gethin (Disney in Concert) and Aaron Wyatt (Cheetham-Fraillon).
Since 2020, Tracy has combined her job as an instrumental music teacher with postgraduate study of conducting at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne. Recently she has completed part of her PhD project at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, University of Georgia, under the supervision of Dr. Nicholas Williams.
